Day 1: Arrive in Tbilisi

Arrive in Tbilisi. Transfer to the hotel on request.

Overnight in Tbilisi, in a 3* hotel in a central location.

Day 2: Discover the capital of Georgia

Discover the capital of Georgia - Tbilisi, visit the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, explore its old quarter with its cobbled streets and traditional houses with wooden balconies, on the banks of the Mtkvari River. We visit the city's points of interest: the Metekhi church and its plateau offering a superb view of the old town; the Narikala fortress which is the ancient symbol of the city; the baths district (Abanotubani) known for its sulfurous hot springs; and the National Museum.

Overnight in Tbilisi, in a 3* hotel in a central location.

Day 3: From UNESCO sites to the Greater Caucasus Mountains

Departure for Mtskheta - former capital of the Kingdom of Iberia, visit to the Jvari ("Cross") monastery perched on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Aragvi and Mtkvari rivers. Visit to the 11th-century Svetitskhoveli ("life-giving column") cathedral.

Depart for Kazbegi, stopping en route at the Ananuri fortress, which offers a picturesque view of the Jinvali reservoir.

Stop at the monument to Russian-Georgian friendship.

Crossing the legendary Georgian military road, one of the most beautiful in the world, through valleys, ravines and finally the Cross Pass, at 2300m altitude.

Arrival in Stepantsminda, Kazbegi.

Overnight in Kazbegi, in a family-run hotel.

Day 4: The Greater Caucasus Mountains

Visit the 14th-century Trinity Church of Gergegti, 300m above the village of Stepantsminda. From here, we enjoy breathtaking views of Mount Kazbegi and its surrounding peaks.

Visit to the Dariali Gorge and monastic complex.

Overnight in Tbilisi, in a centrally located 3* hotel.

Day 5: Soviet Town and Uplistsikhe Cave

Departure for central Georgia, to discover Gori, birthplace of Joseph Stalin. Opportunity to visit the museum and its armored wagon. Discovery of an abandoned town, Uplistsikhe, carved out of the rock, dating from the 2nd century and overlooking the Mtkvari River. Drive to Borjomi - famous for its natural mineral springs.

Visit to Borjomi Park.

Overnight in Akhaltsikhe, in a guesthouse.

Day 6: Vardzia Cave Complex and Lake Paravani

Photo stop at the Khertvisi fortress. Visit to the cave town of Vardzia, located on the left bank of the Mtkvari River. The rock-cut monastic complex is a picturesque Georgian monument dating from the 12th and 13th centuries. The high mountains and rocky cliffs present a distinctive type of architecture. We visit this site, which requires a good level of physical fitness - the multi-storey caves are linked by narrow tunnels cut into the rock.

Return to Tbilisi via Tsalka, visit to the Phoka monastery near Lake Paravani.

Day 7: Kakheti Region and winemaking tradition

Departure to discover one of the most beautiful sites of Kakheti region, the East part of the country, homeland of wine. Discover the ruins academy and monastery complex of Ikalto where the eminent poet Shota Rustaveli, author of the masterpiece of Georgian literature " The Knight in the Panther's Skin", studied in the 12th century.

Visit the local house with an old wine cellar, where the locals show us their traditional methods of winemaking, very different from European practice. Visit Alaverdi Cathedral.

Visit the estate of Tsinandali once belonged to the 19th-century aristocratic poet Alexander Chavchavadze. Visit the park, museum and its historical cellar, pride of the family dynasty.
