Wine (ghvino in Georgian) has played a central role in Georgia’s economic, social, cultural and religious life for thousands of years. Today, as in the past, wine is one of the essential elements of festive tables accompanied by toasts, and the trellises surrounding Orthodox monasteries are the emblematic image of the landscape. Going back into the history of wine (to 6,000 BC), Georgia boasts 8,000 vintages. Georgia claims to be the world’s cradle of viticulture.

Situated at the foot of the Great Caucasus, vast vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see invite you to discover this rich winegrowing history, taste Georgian wines, get some fresh air in the Caucasian mountains near Lake Ananuri, then end the tour in Tbilisi, on cobbled streets with wooden balconies embroidered with fine lace.
